Grade improvement request policy

A request for grade improvement is to be submitted subject to grade improvement policy. 

Written assignment in place of exam

Course assignments are uniform for all course students (exams, papers, etc.).  When the course assignment is an exam, only in exceptional cases may submission of a written paper be approved in place of the exam, under the following conditions:

1. The student has not taken the course exam.

2. The student will be tested orally on the written work.

3. The grade for the written assignment will be pass/fail only and not a numeric grade. Only the School of Graduate Studies is authorized to approve a written assignment in place of an exam under the conditions indicated above. Students who wish to convert an exam to a written assignment must submit a clearly justified request together with a recommendation by the departmental committee to the School of Graduate Studies.
