Degree requirements: specialization courses, background completion, basic Jewish studies and language proficiency

The departmental committee for graduate studies shall recommend a program of study for candidates to the School of Graduate Studies. If the department has a standard doctoral study program that has been approved by the School of Graduate Studies, no additional program approval is required for a particular applicant; the departmental committee is authorized, however, to request from the School of Graduate Studies to waive or add required program courses for specific applicants. PhD students must in any event take part in at least two seminar courses and specialization courses as determined by the department.

In cases where the department does not have a set doctoral study program, it may customize an individual study program for students, as long as it includes seminar courses and specialization courses.
