Research work in a foreign language
- Research proposals, theses, thesis-equivalent work and dissertations, including those written as a collection of articles, may be written in English, with no need to request explicit permission for it, so long as the student completed their departmental English requirements before submission of the research proposal.
- Research proposals, theses, thesis-equivalent work and dissertations written in English must include an abstract in Hebrew and in English. Research proposals written in English must include a cover page in Hebrew. The thesis, thesis-equivalent work and the dissertation must include a cover page, a table of contents and an abstract, all in Hebrew.
- The work submitted to the School of Graduate Studies must include written authorization by the advisor or by a language editor, that it meets an acceptable language and grammar standard.
- In special cases, when the research subject is significantly related to the requested language of writing and its culture, the research proposal or research work may be written in a language that is neither Hebrew nor English. In these cases authorization of the departmental committee and the School of Graduate Studies is required. Such a work must include a cover page, a table of contents and an abstract in Hebrew and in English, in addition to the abstract in the language of the work.
- A request to write the academic work in a language that is neither Hebrew nor English will be considered by the School of Graduate Studies only upon receipt of a guarantee by the department that reviewers proficient in the language are available. Reviews shall provide their evaluation in Hebrew or English only.
- Students of the French and Arabic departments do not require authorization to submit their work in the language of the department, so long as they meet the conditions indicated above.
