Instructions for writing a research proposal

Students in thesis-based Track A, must submit a research proposal after developing their research topic. The research proposal shall be written in coordination with the thesis advisor and must be formulated clearly and precisely, leading the reader in logical sequence from the background and objectives through the research methods, initial outcomes and work plan.

Research proposals that require approval by an ethics committee must be submitted together with a document from the department or faculty, authorizing the research.

The research proposal must include:

1. A title page, including the research topic in Hebrew and in English, the name of the department, student name, advisor name(s) (see sample below).
2. A table of contents page, including chapter names and page numbers.
3. An introduction and scientific background chapter.
4. A research objective and significance chapter (primary objective, secondary objectives and research significance).
5. A research methods chapter describing the methods by which the research is to be conducted and by which the findings are to be analyzed.
6. Initial outcomes obtained or examples of questionnaires.
7. A work plan
8. *Bibliography – current and consistent.
9. Research proposal pages must be numbered.
10. The research proposal shall not exceed 15 printed pages (not including the bibliography).

* References, quotations, footnotes and bibliography shall be in a format accepted in research publications in the discipline.
