Foreign language proficiency

English language requirements must be completed by the end of the second academic year of the PhD.

A waiver for English may be requested from the School of Graduate Studies based on prior study. The request must include a clearly justified recommendation letter by the departmental committee chair. Undergraduate English as a Foreign Language does not grant an exemption from PhD level English.
