PhD degree for MD/DMD holders
The track is intended for holders of a "Doctor of Medicine/Dentistry" (MD/DMD) degree, from an academic institution recognized by the Counsil for Higher Education and the Israeli Medical Association, with a GPA of 85 minimum, including specialist doctors, interns and doctors who have not yet started their internship. The students in the track will participate in courses and conduct research which will be concluded as part of a doctoral thesis (dissertation). The purpose of the track is to give doctors knowledge and experience in research that may help them in their work as clinicians and researchers.
Admission procedure: Doctors with an MD or DMD degree who wish to join the PhD track will contact the relevant faculty/department according to the field of research in which they are interested. It is also possible to directly contact faculty members whose research topic may be relevant. Admission to the track is subject to the approval of a supervisor, the recommendation of the faculty/department, and the approval of the School of Graduate Studies. The commitment of the candidates and the willingness to dedicate the time required to perform a high-quality research are a decisive consideration in the admissions process.
Duration of the track: Like the regular PhD program, the duration of the studies is three to four years. At the same time, the graduation date is conditional on meeting the research and study goals. Details regarding the required time commitment framework can be found in the procedures of the faculties/departments.
Academic requirements: Students in the track are bound by all the procedures and academic obligations required of students studying for the PhD degree. At the same time, the admissions committee may require participation in additional courses.
