Advisory framework

1. The departmental committee may require students to report on their research progress at any time.
    
2. An advisor who does not see the student making satisfactory progress in their studies or research may recommend their termination to the departmental committee. The departmental committee must then submit a recommendation to the School of Graduate Studies.
    
3. If an advisor is forced to discontinue advising students, the departmental committee must make every effort to find a replacement advisor.
    
4. If after appointing a PhD advisor it is found that an additional advisor is needed as well, the appointment shall be made by the departmental committee only after obtaining the approval of the first advisor. Appointment of an additional advisor is subject to approval by the School of Graduate Studies.
